A parish church of the Most Holy Mother of God, one of three in the village. The pairing of a church of the Mother of God and one of Saint George standing almost side by side repeats a pattern we have already seen in Tsutskhvati, Vartsikhe and Zarati.
Chkhari is one of the largest settlements in this part of Imereti, strung along the road north-east of Zestafoni, and three churches for a village are explained by that size. The third, of the Resurrection, is known by a second name, Oqona. The Saint George hall church stands two hundred metres from here. The century of building is not established.
The parish is rural and services follow the church year. Dress modestly, women wear a headscarf. All three Chkhari churches can be walked in an hour: they lie within the village.
