The ruins of the Dormition church of the Gogni hermitage lie away from Gogni village in Terjola Municipality. The word udabno means a secluded monastic place, and the name shows that the church belonged to a hermitage rather than to the village.
Fragments of a three nave basilica are all that remain of the building. Hewn stone slabs served as facing, but no complete stretches of wall survive, and only the type of the building can be read from the remains.
Sources assign the site to the early Middle Ages, the span from the 4th to the 9th century, and lists it as a cultural heritage monument. Three nave basilicas of that period are rare in Georgia, which makes even fragments like these valuable.
