A parish church dedicated to David the Builder. The dedication is uncommon: churches of King David the Fourth are noticeably rarer in Georgia than those of Saint George or the Mother of God. The king who united the country at the start of the twelfth century and founded Gelati was canonised by the church, and his name is carried mostly by newer churches.
Bosela lies in eastern Imereti, in the hilly belt. A caution in passing: do not confuse it with Boslevi, a neighbouring village of similar name where the Saint George church of the far bank stands. Gelati, which David founded, is in the same Imereti north of Kutaisi. The century of building is not established.
The parish is rural and services follow the church year. Dress modestly, women wear a headscarf. Check the name before setting out so as not to end up in Boslevi.
