A parish church of Saint George, the second in the settlement with that dedication. They are told apart by location: the one known as Kvashveti stands further north, closer to the centre, while this one lies south, almost two kilometres away, in the lower part of the built-up area.
The situation is ordinary for settlements grown around industry: Kursebi rose beside coal workings north of Kutaisi, its residential quarters appeared in separate phases, and each acquired its own parish. Besides the two Saint George churches the settlement holds a monastery of the Mother of God. The century of building is not established.
The parish is active and services follow the church year. Dress modestly, women wear a headscarf. Before setting out it is worth knowing which of the two churches you want: they share a dedication.
