The church is known by the name Oragve, and no dedication has become attached to it. It stands in Junmere village, in western Guria, not far from Lanchkhuti.
Among the Gurian village churches this is one of the best known in the area: people come here from well beyond their own village. Such places, which gather a disproportionately wide reputation, are usually explained by one of three things: a long tradition of prayer, a fine view or a convenient position by the road.
Which of them works here is best checked in person. No dating has become attached to the building. The road from Lanchkhuti runs across the plain, with the last stretch through the village. Dress soberly, women bring a headscarf.
