The church at Atsana is the only site of the village, and no dedication has become attached to it. On the flat landscape of western Guria it becomes a noticeable landmark.
Atsana stands on the level part of the region, where the road links several villages into one chain: Shukhuti, Atsana, Mamati, Dzimiti. This part of Guria suits a bicycle or an unhurried drive: there are almost no climbs, the distances are short, and village life goes on right along the verge.
The church in Atsana is one of the natural stops on such a route. There are no explanatory signs here, so come to look. Dress soberly and treat the building with care.
