The church is dedicated to the Dormition of the Mother of God. In Georgia this feast is called Mariamoba and kept at the end of August, and it remains the main day of such churches across the country.
Baghleti appears in this survey twice: besides the church of Christophor Guruli with its rare regional dedication, there is a Dormition church about a kilometre to the south. For a small Gurian village two churches is already notable, and the difference of dedications makes the pair more interesting still: one name is local, the other nationwide.
No dating has become attached to the building. The village lies in western Guria, approached by a village road. Dress soberly, women bring a headscarf.
