Georgia in search of tourist supports in the off-season: Expert analysis

The development of tourism in Georgia throughout the year can become a key strategy for the country, says Nikoloz Mzhavanadze, head of the organization "Association of Defenders of the Rights of Georgia". His opinion is based on the belief that the country has a huge potential for various types of tourism, even during the off-season.

The geographical location and climatic conditions make Georgia attractive not only in the summer and winter seasons, but also in the period between them. "We see great opportunities for the development of cultural, educational, wellness tours, as well as for ski tourism and pilgrimage," Mzhavanadze said, emphasizing the importance of a multifaceted approach to the development of the tourism industry.

According to the National Bank of Georgia, tourists from Russia demonstrated the highest level of spending in the first half of 2023, spending a total of $482 million on 577 thousand visits. The second place was taken by tourists from Turkey with a total cost of $264 million for 582 thousand visits. It is equally important that the third position belongs to citizens of the European Union countries who spent $215 million on 161 thousand trips.

Georgia demonstrates impressive figures in the field of tourism revenue. Total receipts for the period from January to June 2023 amounted to more than $1.8 billion. These data emphasize the importance of tourism as an important source of income for the country's economy, as well as an integral part of its diverse appearance.
