What do you need to know if you want to get to Georgia this summer?
The land borders, after a forced annual downtime due to the pandemic, are again open to foreigners. The local authorities responsible for fighting the infection remind that covid restrictions are still in effect in the country and visitors must have negative results of PCR testing done three days before entry and medical insurance covering covid treatment.
For violations of quarantine measures, impressive monetary penalties will follow.
Unvaccinated residents of EU countries, South Korea, Armenia and Azerbaijan, Bahrain and Belarus, Great Britain, Israel, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Canada, Uzbekistan, China and Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova and Norway, Oman, UAE, Russia, Ireland and the USA, Turkey and Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Ukraine are allowed to enter the region, Switzerland and Japan, Saudi Arabia.
From June 1, land checkpoints will start operating in a two-way mode. All foreign guests will be able to cross the border if they have a document certifying two-phase vaccination against covid and a PCR test, which must be passed again three days after arrival.
