Georgia is looking for workers abroad
The construction boom in Georgia is facing a challenge – a shortage of qualified builders. Entrepreneurs declare the migration of Georgian labor to Eastern European countries, and in order to support growth, companies have to invite workers from Turkey, Azerbaijan, and sometimes even from Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
The founder of the Reforma construction company, Geghi Kelbakiani, considers this situation a temporary challenge that will be overcome. He stresses the need for joint efforts to solve the problem and is confident that the Georgian workforce will return.
In response to this challenge, the Georgian Government is resolutely moving towards the reform of the vocational education system. The plan includes the integration of vocational education into the system of higher and secondary education. The state is also going to introduce professional educational programs together with the business sector to train personnel who meet the needs of the labor market.
This innovative solution is aimed at maintaining a balance between supply and demand in the labor market. Not only the state, but also the private sector are actively involved in investing in vocational education, expecting that it will play a key role in increasing employment and the successful development of the construction industry and other sectors of the Georgian economy.
