Gallery 27 (front Kaleidoscope) is one of the most visited houses of old Tbilisi, located in the Sololaki district at 3 Betlemi Street. (More about front Tbilisi here)
The most picturesque district of Tbilisi originates from this street. The house is a monument of architecture and wooden architecture of the XIX century. A separate wing of the Gallery is occupied by a stained-glass staircase, called by tourists the "Ceremonial Kaleidoscope", which in sunny weather becomes a separate attraction due to the play of light and shadow on bright colored glasses, which are more than one hundred years old.
Many houses in the Sololaki district are former mansions where rich merchants and manufacturers lived.
Gallery 27 is an ordinary house, unlike its neighbors, it has no historical value, at least it has not been officially confirmed. But the carved shutters and columns, and even more so the grand staircase with a riot of stained glass, are worthy of being imprinted in the history of Tbilisi as the only surviving examples of architecture of this kind. There is no hotel or cafe here, but there is much more valuable — the atmosphere and flavor of Georgia and old Tbilisi. For this reason, hundreds of tourists rush here.
