The Transfiguration church of Kvishkheti is the upper church of the village circle of churches, above the main houses, in the northern part of the village. Together with the Resurrection, the Elijah and the Iveron churches it forms a small council of dedications: a rare density for one dacha village, where the churches outnumber the shops.
The climb up the village street from the centre takes minutes, and from the height opens what Kvishkheti is loved for: roofs among gardens, the Mtkvari below and the green sides of the Borjomi gorge. A logical finish to the walk through all the village churches.
The church is seen freely, with ordinary courtesy: modest dress and a quiet voice. If the doors are shut, the climb is still worth making for the panorama: the best light here comes in the first hours after dawn.
