The name Patara Garejvari is worth taking apart: patara means small, while Garejvari is built from roots pointing to an outer cross. Such toponyms are usually older than the villages themselves and remember a roadside cross or a shrine on the boundary of lands.
The village is small, yet it holds two Christian sites: this church of St. George and a church of the Mother of God about seven hundred metres to the north. It is worth coming here together with Karaleti: the villages are neighbours, and between them they offer eight church buildings within a few kilometres.
No dating has become attached to the building. The approach runs along a village road with no signposts. Dress soberly, women bring a headscarf, and treat the walls with care.
