St. Marine is widely venerated in Georgia. Her day, Marineoba, is kept in July, and on that date the whole neighbourhood gathers in village churches of her name.
The church at Bredzi completes the trio of local shrines and stands barely thirty metres from the church of St. George. Such proximity occurs regularly in Shida Kartli: small churches were placed beside one another rather than instead of one another, and over time they grew into a single yard. The third, Kviratskhoveli, stands further west.
All three Bredzi churches can be walked in under half an hour, and they are better seen as a stroll through one coherent place than as a tour of separate buildings. Dress soberly and treat the walls with care.
