Archangel Michael, Mikael Mtavarangelozi in Georgian, is the leader of the heavenly host and one of the most venerated bodiless powers in the Orthodox tradition. After St. George this is one of the most frequent dedications in the country.
His church in Karaleti stands in the western part of the village, even further from the Gori road than the Trinity church. Karaleti now reaches half a dozen church buildings: the Marian church, the Trinity, the Kviratskhoveli chapel, the church of St. George, the church of St. Stephen and this one. For a single village, however large, the figure is impressive.
History explains it: Karaleti was always one of the most populous villages of the Gori district. No dating has become attached to the building. Dress soberly, women bring a headscarf.
