Ugareti is the name of this church by Atskuri village, in the Kura valley. What once lay behind the name is now hard to say: Samtskhe has many shrines that kept only their ancient titles.
Atskuri is an old village on the road between Akhaltsikhe and Borjomi; three kilometres away rises its historic cathedral, and above the village, on a sheer rock, stands the Atskuri fortress. The Ugareti church keeps aside from that busy hub, closer to the slopes.
It is an easy stop for anyone already exploring Atskuri. The church can be approached at any time; follow the coordinates.
