This is a full parish church, unlike the small chapel standing nearby in the same quarter. In everyday speech it is called a Catholic church, although its belonging to that community is not so clearly established.
Tsinubani is a part of Abatkhevi village in the east of Akhaltsikhe Municipality. The border belt of Samtskhe-Javakheti is exactly where such uncertainty arises most often: Orthodox, Catholic and Armenian parishes have lived side by side here for centuries.
The attribution is easiest to check on the spot, with the neighbours. Dress soberly, women bring a headscarf. The same village holds the Holy Cross church and the roadside Surb Khach chapel, so three buildings make a short circuit.
📌 In brief
- A parish church of the Tsinubani quarter with an unclear denominational attribution
- The eastern part of Abatkhevi village, Akhaltsikhe Municipality
