Another church of St George in Borjomi Municipality stands south of the resort, on the slopes above the Mtkvari valley. It is a Georgian Orthodox church attended by the people of the nearby homesteads.
The country here is wooded and sparsely settled, with roads winding between the Borjomi and Akhaltsikhe ridges. From the town centre it is under an hour of unhurried driving.
Come in dry weather: the last stretch of the road is unpaved. Choose modest dress for a visit.
