The chapel is dedicated to the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God, one of the most venerated images of the Orthodox world. Iveria is an ancient name of Georgia, hence the name of the icon.
The chapel stands in Dabadzveli, a kilometre from the village church of St George: both sanctuaries are easy to see in one walk. Coniferous slopes above the Borjomi gorge surround them.
Entry inside is not always possible, yet the view from the terrace in front is wide open. Modest dress is appropriate for a visit.
