The Marian church stands in Tsalanari, a Svan village seventeen kilometres from Mestia. A dedication to the Mother of God is among the most frequent in Svaneti after that to St. George.
Five hundred metres away stands the Lashkhreri church of Jvar Jgrag of the same village, a kilometre off the Lamaria church of the Mother of God in Iskari, and a little further the church of Kalashi.
