The church in the Lashkhreri locality carries the Svan name Jvar Jgrag. Jgrag is what Svaneti calls St. George, while jvar means cross, and together they gave the shrine its title.
The church stands by Tsalanari village, eighteen kilometres from Mestia. Five hundred metres away is the Marian church of Tsalanari, and a little over a kilometre the church of Kalashi and the Lamaria church of the Mother of God in Iskari.
