The church is dedicated to St. George. Several places in Georgia carry the name Sairme, and all of them relate to the word sarme, a fence or a pen: such names belonged to grounds where livestock was kept.
Zeda Sairme, that is upper Sairme, lies thirteen kilometres from Tsageri among wooded slopes. The neighbours around: the ruins of Zogishi stand about two kilometres away, the salotsavi of Shkhudali two and a half, the ruins of Shkhudala three, the Ascension church of Ghvardia three kilometres.
The road here runs along mountain slopes and the unpaved stretches soften between seasons. The church is a village one, services are not held every day, yet it can be seen from outside. Dress modestly, keep quiet inside, leave offerings untouched. In summer the slopes are dry, in spring the path is damp.
