The church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit stands in Putieti village in Ambrolauri Municipality. The walls are laid of roughly worked stones of varying size and were plastered later, while the load bearing parts are carried out in hewn sandstone.
The plan is rectangular and closed on the east by a semicircular apse with three arched windows, an altar stone standing beneath the middle one, arched niches made on the north and east sides, and a spherical conch. Semicircular arches run before the sanctuary above four sided supports. The doors and windows are placed symmetrically along the long walls, and the walls themselves are divided by a pair of pilasters into three equal parts.
The vault is cylindrical and its supports rest on corbels. A round window is cut in the upper part of the west wall, a detail rare in village churches, and the entrance leads in from the west. The floor is laid with hewn stone slabs and the roof is vaulted. Sources assign the building to the late Middle Ages.
