The church is dedicated to the Archangel and opens the chain of shrines of Zemo Skhvava. Four places of prayer in one village are not rare in Racha: each quarter or family kept one of its own, and over centuries they gathered into such a knot.
Zemo Skhvava lies eight kilometres from Ambrolauri, on the slopes above the valley. The Trinity church of the same village stands about one kilometre and three hundred metres away, the salotsavi of St. Barbara one kilometre and six hundred, the church of Dzeli Cheshmaritebisa two and a half. The church of Putieti rises two kilometres off.
All four shrines of the village can be walked in a couple of hours, yet on the ground they look alike, so follow the coordinates. Dress modestly, keep quiet inside; the road from Ambrolauri is passable all year, and the village itself is easier walked, for the slopes here are gentle.
