The great church of St George in Dzegvi is known simply as the church of St George as well: the dedication is the same, while the qualifier of size comes and goes in everyday use.
Another church of St George in the village stands about three hundred metres away, the church of the All Holy nine hundred and fifty. In all, Dzegvi and its district hold more than a dozen churches, the richest gathering of shrines in these parts.
The church is rural and its gates are opened by arrangement. The rules are the usual ones: covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf for women, quiet. The two churches of St George stand close and are named almost alike, so steer by the coordinates.
