The church of St George stands in a village whose name is written in two ways: Tedzami in Georgian, Tezami in Latin letters. The difference is a single letter, yet it decides whether a navigator will find the village.
The village is small but holds three shrines: the revered place Adgilis Deda about five hundred metres away, the church of St Nino seven hundred and seventy. Further off, three and a half kilometres away, lies Kevliani with the house of the Iveron icon.
The church is rural and its gates are opened by arrangement. The rules are the usual ones: covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf for women, quiet. Because of the double spelling a search by name often leads astray, so steer by the coordinates.
