The house at Kevliani is dedicated to the Iveron icon of the Mother of God, venerated in Georgia as the protector of the country. This dedication is uncommon and usually belongs to monasteries rather than village parishes.
The house stands on its own: the three other Kevliani shrines lie two and three kilometres away, closer to the Tedzami country, and Tedzami itself with its three churches three and a half kilometres off.
The rules are monastic: covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf for women, quiet, photography by permission. The track here is a country one and washes out after rain, so in bad weather a higher car is the better choice.
