The church of St George stands in Dzalisi village. The village is better known than its church: an ancient town has been excavated here, with mosaic floors and the remains of baths, one of the notable archaeological sites of Kartli.
Another church of the village, Kviratskhoveli, stands about seven hundred metres away, and the Sumbiani church by Vaziani village almost three kilometres off. All around lies the Mukhrani plain with its vineyards, and the road from it runs to Mtskheta.
This is a parish church and the rules are the usual ones: covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf for women, quiet. If the excavation is on your list too, find out in advance whether the site is open to visitors, as opening times at archaeological sites shift.
