The church is dedicated to the apostles Peter and Paul. In the Georgian calendar their shared day, Petre Pavloba, falls in mid July and closes a short fast, so patronal feasts in such villages are lively and crowded.
Imera stands on the Tsalka upland, north east of Tsalka, and the village itself holds no other shrines. The nearest churches and prayer places are gathered in neighbouring Bareti, about four and a half kilometres away.
The place is a quiet one, and people usually come while travelling between the villages of the upland. The rules are those of any working church: covered shoulders and knees, restraint, and a headscarf for women.
