A monastery church near the village of Akhoti, dedicated to Saint Theodore. The Orthodox calendar holds several Theodores, and this one is referred to at times as Theodore Tiron the soldier and at times as the martyr Theodore of Kvelta: which of the two gave the house its name remains an open question.
Akhoti lies south of Bolnisi, in the hills between the lands of Bolnisi and Dmanisi. The nearest neighbouring shrine, the ruins by the Sakhundari nasoplari, stands about two and a half kilometres away.
The monastery keeps its own rhythm, and a visit is better arranged in advance. The usual monastic rules apply: covered shoulders and knees, quiet, and no photography without permission.
