The chapel is dedicated to St Charalampos. In Georgian villages he is venerated as a defender against plague, and buildings like this were often raised at the edge of a village, between the houses and the pastures.
It closes the Santa trio and stands eighty metres from the chapel of St George. The two almost touch, yet their dedications differ and they should not be mixed up. Another chapel, of the apostles Peter and Paul, lies eight hundred metres to the north.
There are no regular services here and people come freely. Santa is a living village, and on patronal days the chapels are opened, while the rest of the time they stand quiet.
