The chapel is dedicated to St George, the most venerated saint of Georgia. The building is small, of the kind raised not by a parish but by a whole village or a single family.
It stands in the southern part of Santa. Eighty metres away is another chapel, dedicated to St Charalampos, and although they stand almost side by side their dedications differ, so it is the saints that tell them apart. The third Santa chapel, of the apostles Peter and Paul, lies eight hundred metres to the north, and two kilometres away is the church site of the vanished village of Erani.
There are no regular services here and people come freely. On the feast of St George the village gets busy and the chapel is opened.
