The church of the Patara Dagheti nasoplari, also called Ukan Dagheti or Rear Dagheti, stands on the southern edge of the former village, within an old cemetery. It is a single nave hall church of about nine and a half metres by eight, and sources assign it to the 11th century. The church is active.

On the east the space is closed by a deep semicircular apse under a spherical conch. A sacristy is made to the north of it and a diaconicon to the south, both rooms long and narrow, covered by barrel vaults, with entrances leading straight from the hall. The apse floor stands three steps above the floor of the hall, with the steps set on either side of it, next to the doors into the side rooms.

Six arched windows give the light: one each in the north, south and west walls and one each in the apse, the sacristy and the diaconicon. All of them are fitted with iron grilles. The entrance to the church is cut in the western part of the south wall, the door is framed by an ashlar and its top is drawn as an arch.

💡 Tip

  • A sacristy and a diaconicon flank the apse
  • The sanctuary floor is raised by three steps
  • Six arched windows, all under iron grilles
