The church of the Virgin stands in the central part of Cheremi, some thirty metres from the church of Saint George: the two buildings effectively share one yard and are seen in a single approach.
Cheremi is notable for the number of its church buildings: about eight, scattered along the whole length of the village on the old road from Kakheti to Tbilisi. A similar pair stands on the north-western edge, where the Tsverodabali church of Saint George rises beside the church of Saint Barbara. The village is best walked as one route from north to south.
The grounds are open around the clock and both buildings can be approached freely. Dress with shoulders and knees covered, a headscarf for women, and speak quietly on the grounds.
