The church is dedicated to Saint Marina, called Marine in Georgia. Care is needed with the name here: the ruins of a church of the same dedication stand near Melaani, on the plain south-east of Gurjaani, but that is a different village and a different object.
The church stands in the eastern part of Cheremi, about half a kilometre from the episcopal cathedral and the prayer house. Cheremi lies at the foot of the Gombori range, and all its sanctuaries, more than a dozen of them, are scattered over the slope and the built-up area.
There is no fixed schedule of services, but the site can be approached at any time. Walking all the Cheremi churches takes at least two hours, so it is sensible to plan a route from the cathedral onwards through the village. The rules are those of any working church: covered shoulders and knees, quiet.
