The name of this place is a single word: Sveti. In Georgian it means a pillar, and in church tradition it belongs to the chief cathedral of the country, Svetitskhoveli in Mtskheta, whose name translates as the life giving pillar. What stands behind the name here, a pillar, a chapel or the memory of them, no one explains.
The place belongs to Tskarostavi village in Sagarejo municipality, on the Kakheti plain by the Gombori range. The basilica of Joachim and Anna of the same village rises about three kilometres away, the church of the Virgin of Ninotsminda village five, the second Sunday chapel of Patardzeuli a little further.
Do not look for a building or a fence here, the place is seen from outside and it is best to follow the coordinates. Behave as at any shrine: quietly, moving nothing. The road runs across the plain and is passable all year.
