A village church dedicated to the Apostle Thomas. The dedication is uncommon in Georgia: church tradition places the apostles Andrew the First-Called and Simon the Canaanite at the centre here, their preaching tied directly to these lands, while the name of Thomas occurs in Georgian villages noticeably less often. That makes a village church carrying it the more interesting.
Ozhio lies west of Telavi, in the foothills above the Alazani valley. Another church of the village, the Andronikashvili family Ghvtaeba, stands about a kilometre and a half away. Little is known about the building itself: the dedication and the type, while the date of its appearance is not named.
The church is in use, the parish is small and services are few. Dress modestly, women wear a headscarf. Both village churches can be seen in one visit.
