The church of St. Nino in the residential part of Kistauri is another church of the area after the church of John the Evangelist with its tower. While the roadside ensemble gathers passers-by, the St. Nino church lives the inner life of the village: services, neighbours, parish cares, christenings and patronal days.
It is neighbouring churches like this that give a village route its depth: by the road the showpiece with the tower, in the depth the parish everyday. Together with Kvelatsminda on the western edge, Kistauri gathers a full three stops.
One enters freely, with ordinary rural courtesy: modest dress, a quiet voice, respect for the yards. If the church is shut, a look from outside is enough, and then it is worth walking on to Kvelatsminda.
