The church of the Saviour stands in Akhshani in Akhmeta Municipality. The small hall is laid of cobble, while the vault, the entrance arches, the floor and the porch are built of brick, a combination typical of Kakhetian village churches.
There are two doors, arched on the outside and rectangular within. A rectangular window is cut in the deep apse with rectangular niches on either side, and a stone altar table stands in the centre of the sanctuary. The altar platform with its semicircular solea is raised one step above the hall floor and separated by a wooden screen, while a low step runs along all three walls.
Outside, the main decoration is made by the masonry itself: on the gables the brick is laid so that a cross reads in the recesses, and both crosses are tinted reddish. The roof is covered with corrugated tile. Sources place the church in the span from the 14th to the 18th century, and the walls and apse survive.
