The Ascension church stands in Sakobiano, in the upper part of the village area. A dedication to the Ascension is common in mountain Kakheti and often attaches to churches placed on heights.
Sakobiano is part of Akhmeta Municipality, whose area is almost entirely ridges and forest. The village sits above the Alazani plain at the transition to the mountains, with several more old churches and naeklesiari scattered around it. The roads are narrow and some approaches are unpaved.
A headscarf is useful for women, as it may be required at the entrance. The site remains part of the everyday life of the area, and that deserves respect.

- Bring water, as there are no kiosks nearby.
- It is better to leave a dog outside.

- Navigate by the coordinates, as there may be no signs on the approach.
