The church of the Forty Martyrs stands in the southern part of Kvemo Khodasheni village in Telavi Municipality. The dedication refers to the Forty Martyrs of Sebaste.
Kvemo Khodasheni lies at the foot of the Tsiv-Gombori range, on the edge of the Alazani valley. The village is rich in holy places: the Kvelatsminda shrine known as Tsrubeli is a couple of hundred steps away, and the Trinity basilica is a little further.
Regular services may not be held, and the church can be approached at any time. Modest clothing is appropriate, and candles and offerings are left in their places.
