The church of Saint George stands in the cemetery of Gogni village in Terjola Municipality and remains the only active church among the ruins around. A Mkhedruli inscription above the door gives the year of construction, 1887.
It is a hall building with a five sided apse, raised on a three tier plinth and faced with worked ashlars. Entrances are cut in the middle of every wall except the east one. Three wide arched windows on the east, one on the west and two each on the north and south give the light.
The building inscription above the door has kept the names of the masters: Giorgi Abesadze, Vasil Noselidze and Besarion. Signatures like this are uncommon in village churches, where the name of the donor usually crowds out the builders. Sources assign the church to the 19th century.
