The Chikha fortress and a Virgin Mary church stand side by side here: a stronghold on a rock and a church by its walls. A single entry covers both buildings, so they are seen together.
The place lies above the Kvirila valley, a kilometre from the two Trinity churches of Chikha village. The rock opens a view over the surrounding hills and the town of Sachkhere.
Walking on the fortress walls is dangerous, as the masonry has collapsed in places. Wear closed shoes: the climb is stony and steep.
