The basilica of Dvabzu is called unnamed: no dedication has survived. A basilica is a simple kind of church, a long hall without a dome, and in Guria such buildings were raised both in early times and later, when old walls were built up anew.
Dvabzu lies four kilometres from Ozurgeti, on the coastal lowland where the hills give way to the plain. Neighbours are not few: a working church of St. George stands about seven hundred metres away, the church of Krasnoselka village two and a half kilometres, the church of Tskhemliskhidi three.
The building stands in the open and can be seen from outside. The old masonry asks for care: the stones are not moved and the foundation is not stepped on. The climate here is damp, and in winter and spring the grass around is wet, so closed shoes are better.
