St. George remains the most frequent dedication here in Guria too, although the overall density of churches in the region is noticeably lower than in the eastern lands: both the smaller area and a different pattern of settlement play a part.
Dvabzu lies south of Ozurgeti, by the road towards Shemokmedi. Among the Gurian village churches this one is noticeably livelier than many of its neighbours: the parish is active and services are regular. For a region where most churches stand almost without a congregation, that is a tangible difference.
Giorgoba, the day of St. George, is kept twice a year, in spring and in November, and the church is especially busy on those days. Dress soberly, women bring a headscarf. No dating has become attached to the building.
