Lake Bateti is a mirror of nature
Lake Bateti is located in the southern part of the Karelian region of Georgia, 24 kilometers from the city of Kareli. This is one of the most picturesque and popular places in the Dzami Valley. The height of the lake exceeds 1300 meters above sea level, and the depth reaches 12 meters.
Although the name of Bateti translates from Georgian as “goose”, today only the Asian newt, which is listed in the Red Book of Georgia, is found in the reservoir. The lake was formed in ancient times during a landslide that descended from the southern slope. Now this part of the reservoir is swampy, so it is better to drive in the direction of the gorge of the Batetistskali river.
In winter, the bath is covered with ice, and in summer, clear water opens the mysterious depths of the reservoir. Locals often come to the lake to relax in nature from the bustling city and enjoy the singing of birds. It is best to come here in spring and summer, you can not only have a picnic in the fresh air by the cool water, but also take beautiful photos against the background of a coniferous forest.
