"Wizz Air: Five Million Passengers in 11 Years in Georgia"

Since 2012, Wizz Air, the leading Hungarian low-cost airline, has successfully served five million passengers on the Georgian aviation market, according to Irakli Karkashadze, Director General of the Association of Airports of Georgia. The airline, based at Kutaisi Airport, provides 28 direct destinations in 16 countries on three A321 aircraft.

Wizz Air has become an important player in the Georgian air transportation market, providing transportation for more than 2.5 million passengers. This has helped to strengthen ties and tourism in the region. The CEO stressed that reaching the 5 million passenger mark confirms the stable support and trust in Wizz Air in Georgia.

The airline is expected to increase its presence at Kutaisi International Airport by the end of the year, basing four of its aircraft at this regional hub. This is a new stage of development, according to Karkashadze.

Wizz Air currently serves 28 destinations in 16 countries on three A321 aircraft. Starting in mid-December, it is planned to add a fourth aircraft to the Kutaisi base, as well as the introduction of direct flights to Copenhagen twice a week. Wizz Air holds a leading position in the Georgian air transportation market, carrying 630 thousand passengers in 2022.

Wizz Air's popularity among Georgian citizens who like to travel around Europe is confirmed by the record passenger traffic and the number of flights at Kutaisi International Airport. The airport handled up to 1.4 million passengers in January-October 2023, which is 107% more than in the same period of 2022.
