Despite the difficulties caused by the pandemic, Georgia continues to delight with record revenues from tourism. According to the National Tourism Administration, in the first six months of 2023, international tourism revenues exceeded $1.8 billion, which was a historic achievement for the country. This result indicates a rapid increase in income – by 57.9% compared to the same period last year and by 23.9% compared to the pre-pandemic 2019.

Surprisingly, tourism revenues even exceeded the figures for 2019, although the number of international travelers has not yet reached the level of that record pre-pandemic period. In the first six months of 2023, about 2.9 million international travelers visited Georgia, which is 75.9% more than in the same period in 2022. It is interesting to note that attendance figures have recovered by 74% compared to the first six months of 2019.

The tourism sector in Georgia has been actively recovering since the summer of 2021, when the world faced the coronavirus pandemic. Already in 2022, 5.4 million international travelers visited the country, which is 188.5% more than in the previous year. It is important to note that tourism indicators have successfully recovered by 58% compared to the period before the pandemic. This proves that Georgia continues to attract attention and interest from all over the world, and its attractiveness as a tourist destination is steadily growing.
