Tbilisi gondolas of cable lifts: history and prospects

The best known of all the cable cars in Tbilisi is the gondola, which is located in Rike Park and lifts people to the Narikala fortress. Queues form here from time to time, especially in summer, and everyone can enjoy the magnificent views of the city. However, there are other working gondolas in the city with beautiful views that are worth knowing about.

Another road, which is currently not working, is also located in the center of Tbilisi. It was closed after the accident, but the city authorities have a plan to restore its operation. From the lower station of the gondola, located on Rustaveli Avenue, the path to Mtatsminda Mountain used to open. Its repair is one of the ideas of the city government.

Another working cable lift with gondolas can be found in the Vake area, the lower station of which is located near the Vake Park. Thanks to this gondola, visitors have the opportunity to climb to Turtle Lake and enjoy the picturesque nature and peaceful atmosphere.

There is another gondola that may not be so famous among tourists, but is popular among young people. The lower station of this gondola is located next to the high-rise building of Tbilisi State University. From here, the gondola cabins carry passengers to the Bagebi area. This gondola is often used by students for convenient and quick movement around the city, as there are many student dormitories in Bagebi.
