Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, stressed that the introduction of flights by the Turkish airline Pegasus from Kutaisi to Istanbul, starting in December, will have a significant impact on increasing passenger traffic at the airport. According to her, this agreement contributes not only to an increase in the number of travelers, but also stimulates tourist flows, which, in turn, contributes to the development of the Imereti region.

Kvrivishvili also expressed confidence that even more airlines will appear in Georgia in the near future, as active negotiations are underway to expand the number of destinations from Kutaisi to strategically important regions, including the member states of the European Union, the Gulf States and other key destinations.

She also stressed that the Kutaisi International Airport continues its impressive growth, with passenger traffic increasing by 107% in January-October 2023 compared to the same period in 2022. This success is also reflected in the growth in the number of flights, which increased by 55%, reaching 4.1 thousand in ten months. Currently, the airport is served by five airlines offering flights to 35 destinations in 18 countries.
